See Jeff Daniels revive his ‘Newsroom’ alter ego to talk about Clinton and Trump

“The Newsroom” ended its three-season run in 2014, but the show’s opening monologue (warning: some graphic language) was one of its most enduring moments. In that scene, news anchor Will McAvoy (played by Jeff Daniels) goes on a rant about “why America isn’t the greatest country in the world anymore.”

So it makes sense that Daniels would reprise that moment to comment on this year’s presidential campaign. In a video released today by Bloomberg News, Daniels steps back in character as McAvoy to give some thoughts on Trump.

“Yeah, Donald Trump is a fact-bending loose cannon who alienates mainstream voters with everything he says, but he gets constant media attention for free. There won’t be a day from now until November that Trump isn’t on every TV channel,” McAvoy told Bloomberg’s Matt Negrin and Griffin Hammond.

Watch the full clip below. (Again, since the video is an homage to the original, the same graphic language warning applies.)
