1. Caitlyn Jenner to guest star on “Transparent.”

Caitlyn Jenner will guest star on Amazon’s acclaimed show “Transparent” about a transgender woman who comes out to her friends and family, the Associated Press reports. It was reportedly pretty easy to get the star of “I am Cait” to agree to appear on the show. “We are all part of the same community. A lot of the transwomen who work on our show are also in her show, ‘I am Cait,'” producer Jill Soloway said. “Lots of crossover. Lots of friends.” Soloway has yet to reveal any details about Jenner’s character on the show.

2. Austin360 food critic embarks on Texas barbecue tour.

Austin360’s main food man Matthew Odam has embarked on a meat tour of Texas. Odam will spend six days traveling through Texas to see just what the state has to offer barbecue-wise outside of Austin. You can check out a map of his journey here, and tweet at him @odam to offer suggestions and even maybe schedule a meet up. Odam will stop at three spots a day and hopefully make it out with only a minor case of the meat sweats. Check out his reviews of Austin’s best barbecue and have yourself a mini-tour (a meal) in his honor.

3. Dolly Parton, Katy Perry team up at ACM Awards.

“Her grandpa was a preacher, my father was a preacher, we both grew up singing and playing guitar in church, and we’re both known for some of the…biggest…songs in our fields,” Katy Perry told the crowd at the Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas Sunday. Referring to none other than Dolly Parton herself, Perry introduced country’s queen before the two shared the stage to sing a medley of several of Parton’s biggest hits. Parton received the Tex Ritter Award during the ceremony for the movie about her life, “Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors.”

4. Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa to play Austin360 Amphitheater.

On August 21 Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa will play the Austin360 Amphitheater along with acts Kevin Gates, Jhene Aiko, Casey Veggies and DJ Drama, the American-Statesman’s Deborah Sengupta Stith reports. The Dogg-Father and Wiz are expected to give a great performance that’s sure to feature “Young and Wild And Free,” what “might as well be our city’s anthem,” Stith says. Tickets for the show will go on sale April 8.

5. Tamale House East temporarily closed.

If your plans during the next two weeks included eating at Tamale House East, now’s the time to change them. The restaurant announced on Twitter over the weekend plans to close until April 18, the American Statesman’s Matthew Odam reports. The reason for the close is cited in the tweet as “exciting things are coming.” Try one of these alternative until it reopens.
