“The Most Interesting Man in the World” is set to become “A Retired Man in the World.” Jonathan Goldsmith, who might not sound familiar to you, but has served as the face of Dos Equis’ since 2006, has announced his appearance in an ad set to air starting Thursday will be his final gig championing the beer brand. 77-year-old Goldsmith, who inspired viral memes across the internet, will be replaced by a new “Interesting Man” actor who will begin starring in spots in the fall. Not only did Circuit of the Americas officials confirm the venue would in fact hold the Formula One Grand Prix at its track this year during a Wednesday morning press conference, but Taylor Swift was revealed as this year’s musical guest, the American-Statesman’s Deborah Sengupta Stith reports. Instead of performing after Sunday’s race, as in usual F1 music form, Swift will perform Saturday, October 22 after the qualifying sessions. Tickets, which run $150 for a three-day pass, haven’t yet gone on sale, but you can sign up for alerts as to when they will here.
The guiding force behind the Fab Four, Beatles producer George Martin has died at 90 years old, the Associated Press reports. British Prime Minister David Cameron confirmed Martin’s passing and called the producer “a giant of music,” while Ringo Starr tweeted that “George will be missed.” Martin won six Grammys in his lifetime and was behind album concepts like “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” ”Revolver,” ”Rubber Soul,” and ”Abbey Road.” “If anyone earned the title of the fifth Beatle it was George,” Paul McCartney said.
